Hand stripping is usually only done on wire haired dogs. A stripping stone or tool is continuously raked through the coat of the dog until all the dead hair comes out. This takes longer than a standard haircut, and it is important to be careful of the dogs skin during the process, as some dogs skin is more sensitive than others. Hand stripping can help the dog regulate their body temperature, and keep their skin protected and healthy.
